Report: Giants signing Winston to 2-year, $8M deal
The New York Giants and veteran quarterback Jameis Winston are finalizing a two-year contract worth $8 million, sources told Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports.
Winston's deal reportedly includes incentives that could push the total value as high as $16 million.
The Giants have been linked to Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson since coming up short in their reported efforts to trade for Matthew Stafford. While the Winston deal comes just hours after Rodgers reportedly had a visit with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the move might be unrelated.
Adding Winston does not impact New York's ongoing pursuit of Rodgers or any other options at the position, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
The Giants are also thought to be considering selecting a quarterback with the No. 3 overall pick in April's draft after parting ways with former first-round pick Daniel Jones in November.
Winston, a former No. 1 overall pick, provided a spark after stepping in for an injured Deshaun Watson last season in Cleveland. He topped the 300-yard mark three times in seven starts with the Browns, including a career-best 497-yard performance in a Monday night loss to the Denver Broncos.
