Seahawks sign HC Pete Carroll to 3-year contract extension

The Seattle Seahawks announced Friday that they've signed head coach Pete Carroll to a three-year contract extension, confirming reports that surfaced late Thursday night.

Carroll was heading into the final season of a five-year, $35-million contract, but is now locked up through 2016.
The league's second oldest head coach helped the Seahawks to their first Super Bowl championship in franchise history last season.
