Auston Matthews got off the schneid by burying his first career playoff goal in Game 3 against the Capitals. You can give Capitals defenseman Nate Schmidt an assist for wearing Matthews' initial shot on the face. The Calder Trophy favorite stayed with the puck and slid it past Braden Holtby to cut Washington's lead in half.
With Matthews' tally, four of Toronto's seven goals in the postseason thus far have been scored by rookies. Mitch Marner is responsible for one, while Kasperi Kapanen notched two in Game 2.
