Islanders lose Pelech, Reilly to injuries vs. Sabres
The New York Islanders lost a pair of defensemen during Friday's 4-3 win against the Buffalo Sabres.
Adam Pelech departed after taking a puck to the face in the second period.
Mike Reilly had to leave the game minutes late after hitting his head on the ice due to a hit from Jordan Greenway.
The stretcher came out for Reilly, but he was eventually able to skate off the ice with the help of his teammates.
Greenway was initially handed a five-minute major, but the penalty was rescinded upon review.
Islanders head coach Patrick Roy offered no immediate postgame update for either player but said Reilly is well enough to travel with the team back to New York ahead of Sunday's meeting with the Rangers, per Newsday's Andrew Gross. Roy added he didn't like the non-call on the Greenway hit.
The Islanders were briefly down to three defensemen after Alexander Romanov left the game. However, he returned shortly after that.
