Iginla, Olczyk join Hockey Hall of Fame selection committee
Jarome Iginla and Ed Olczyk were appointed to the Hockey Hall of Fame selection committee, chairman Lanny McDonald announced Tuesday.
Iginla and Olczyk replace David Branch and Mike Gartner, who had served their full 15-year terms. Gartner will remain part of the Hockey Hall of Fame board as he transitions into McDonald's role in June 2025.
Iginla, 47, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2020. A longtime member of the Calgary Flames, Iginla scored 625 goals and 1,300 points in 1,554 career games that included stints with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Boston Bruins, Colorado Avalanche, and Los Angeles Kings. He led the NHL in goals twice and finished second in Hart Trophy voting in 2002 and 2004. Iginla won Olympic gold medals with Canada in 2002 and 2010.
The Alberta native is currently a special assistant to the general manager with the Flames.
Olczyk, 58, tallied 342 goals and 794 points in 1,031 NHL games. He spent most of his career with the Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Winnipeg Jets, and he won the Stanley Cup with the New York Rangers in 1994. Olczyk was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 2013.
Olczyk now works as a color commentator on Seattle Kraken broadcasts. He has won two Emmy awards for his broadcasting.
Pavel Datsyuk, Jeremy Roenick, Shea Weber, Krissy Wendell-Pohl, Natalie Darwitz, Colin Campbell, and David Poile were inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame on Monday.
