Golden Knights claim 4th Pacific Division title in 8 years
The Vegas Golden Knights are Pacific Division champions for the fourth time in their eight-year history.
The Golden Knights clinched top spot in the division Saturday night with a 5-3 victory over the Nashville Predators. The Winnipeg Jets already secured first place in the West, so Vegas will face the conference's top wild-card team in Round 1.
Vegas' division title also means the Los Angeles Kings and Edmonton Oilers will face each other in Round 1 for the fourth year in a row as the Pacific Division's second and third seeds. Home-ice advantage is still to be determined, though L.A. currently holds a four-point lead in the standings. Edmonton won each of the past three Round 1 meetings.
The battle between and Kings and Oilers is the third Round 1 matchup to be confirmed across the league. The Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche will meet as the Central Division's second and third seeds. Out East, the Carolina Hurricanes and New Jersey Devils are locked in as the second and third seeds in the Metropolitan Division.
