Colorado Avalanche freshman bench-boss Patrick Roy topped Detroit's Mike Babcock and Tampa Bay's Jon Cooper to claim the Jack Adams Award as the NHL's top head coach.
After finishing dead last in the Western Conference last season, Roy, in one of the greatest turnarounds in NHL history, led the Avalanche to a franchise record 52 wins in 2013-14, guiding the team a Central Division title and an appearance in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Prior to his gig with the Avalanche, Roy coached the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL, leading the team to a Memorial Cup championship in 2006.
