Beltre becomes all-time hits leader among foreign-born players
Adrian Beltre keeps climbing the all-time leaderboards.
When the Texas Rangers third baseman lined a fourth-inning double against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday night, he broke a tie with Ichiro Suzuki for the most career hits by a player born outside the United States.
It was the 3,090th hit of Beltre's career, good for 22nd most in MLB history all on his own. And after adding two more hits later in the contest, he trails legendary slugger Dave Winfield by just 18 for the 21st spot, and he'll need only five more after that to catch Alex Rodriguez's career tally of 3,115.
In April, Beltre passed Rod Carew for the most hits by a player born in Latin America when he doubled against the Oakland Athletics.
Injuries have somewhat derailed Beltre's season, as he's only appeared in 39 of the Rangers' 70 games. He's made the most of his chances, though, tallying 44 hits, and counting.
