Kluber leaves Rangers debut after 1 inning with shoulder tightness
Corey Kluber's Texas Rangers debut lasted just one inning, as the former Cy Young Award winner left Sunday's start against the Colorado Rockies due to tightness in the back of his right shoulder, Rangers executive vice president of communications John Blake announced.
Kluber was replaced by Joe Palumbo.
The 34-year-old will undergo further testing Monday to determine the extent of the injury.
Kluber threw 18 pitches in the first inning, striking out one batter and issuing one walk before departing. He said he felt the tightness a few pitches into the frame and that it got worse by the end of the inning, according to Levi Weaver of The Athletic.
Texas acquired Kluber from the Cleveland Indians this past winter. He only made seven starts last year due to a broken forearm.
