Orioles' Santander could miss rest of season with oblique strain
Baltimore Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Saturday that slugger Anthony Santander could miss the rest of the 2020 campaign due to an oblique strain, according to Joe Trezza of MLB.com.
Hyde added that Santander, who was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday, is expected to miss "significant time."
Santander is enjoying a breakout season. The 25-year-old outfielder owns an .890 OPS with 11 homers and 32 RBIs in 37 games for Baltimore.
In a corresponding roster move, the Orioles selected outfielder Mason Williams from their alternate training site. Baltimore also recalled right-hander David Hess from the alternate site, optioned right-hander Evan Phillips, and claimed righty Carson Fulmer off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Infielder Rylan Bannon was added to the team's eligible player pool and will report to the alternate site at Bowie.
