Atlanta Braves right-hander Jesse Chavez was carried off the field by two team trainers after taking a 100-mph comebacker to his left leg in the sixth inning Wednesday against the Detroit Tigers.

The 39-year-old couldn't put any weight on his leg after the scary play.

Braves manager Brian Snitker provided an update on Chavez after the game, calling the pitcher day-to-day.

"Everything checked out good. He's pretty much day-to-day," Snitker said, according to 680 The Fan's Kevin McAlpin. "We'll know more tomorrow. We'll just kind of evaluate him when he gets in. It's just good to know he didn't break anything."

Chavez has been one of the Braves' best relievers this season, posting a 1.55 ERA, a 1.03 WHIP, and 36 strikeouts over 31 appearances.
