San Diego Padres right-hander Yu Darvish will start Wednesday against the Detroit Tigers, manager Mike Shildt announced Monday, according to 97.3 The Fan.

Darvish hasn't pitched in the majors since May 29 due to multiple injuries and because of a personal family matter that resulted in a stint on the restricted list.

The 38-year-old came off the restricted list in late August before returning to the injured list to finish his minor-league rehab for an elbow ailment.

Darvish owns a 3.20 ERA with 1.06 WHIP and 53 strikeouts over 56 1/3 innings (11 starts) this season. His return gives San Diego a healthy rotation featuring Joe Musgrove, Dylan Cease, Michael King, and Martín Pérez for the stretch run with the club looking to secure a playoff spot.
