The San Diego Padres and manager Mike Shildt are finalizing a two-year contract extension that's expected to be made official as early as Wednesday, according to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Shildt, who had one more season left on a two-year deal he signed in November 2023, will now be under contract through the 2027 campaign.
The 56-year-old will reportedly get a substantial raise. His 2024 salary was in the bottom third for MLB managers.
Shildt led the Padres to 93 wins in 2024, the second-highest total in franchise history. San Diego was bounced in the NLDS in five games to the eventual World Series champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers.
