- With John Dodson still recovering from an ACL injury and Joseph Benavidez having lost twice against champion Demetrious Johnson, the line of potential contenders at 125 pounds is pretty slim.
- The UFC 183 clash between Ian McCall and John Lineker was supposed to crown a new challenger, but Lineker missed weight for the fourth time in his UFC career, so his victory essentially eliminated both potential challengers.
- Lineker may not last long in the flyweight division, as UFC president Dana White has already told "Hands of Stone" that he'll have to move up to bantamweight.
- Kyoji Horiguchi could find himself in the title picture at some point in 2015. The 24-year-old former Shooto champion improved to 4-0 in the Octagon with a unanimous decision victory over Louis Gaudinot at UFC 182.
