- Joseph Benavidez solidified his status as the best 125-pounder on the planet not nicknamed "Mighty Mouse" with a unanimous decision victory over John Moraga at UFC 187. Unfortunately for Benavidez, a pair of losses to division kingpin Demetrious Johnson will likely keep him out of the title picture for the foreseeable future.
- John Dodson likely earned himself another crack at Johnson with a workman-like decision win over fellow top-10 flyweight Zach Makovsky. It wasn't a stirring victory, but it allowed "The Magician" to get back on track after he missed most of 2014 with a knee injury.
- Jussier "Formiga" da Silva made his case for a title shot by notching a decision win over the ultra tough Wilson Reis at UFC Fight Night 67 in May.
- Rising prospect Henry Cejudo has a chance to put himself in the thick of things at flyweight when he faces Chico Camus at UFC 188 in June. The Olympic gold medalist is likely only a few victories away from challenging Johnson for the title.
