Four-star recruit Jerrick Gibson, the No. 1 running back in the 2024 class, announced his commitment to Texas on Saturday, according to 247Sports' Steve Wiltfong.

Gibson is the 29th overall recruit in the ESPN 300. The Florida native picked the Longhorns over Miami, Georgia, and Tennessee, among other finalists.

"Just where his heart was," Gibson's father, Victor Jenkins, said of his son's decision. "Just the development, especially for his position, they develop well. I feel like I can leave him there and not have to worry about anything."

Texas' two leading rushers in 2022 - Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson - were drafted by NFL teams this offseason, with Robinson going to the Atlanta Falcons at No. 8.

The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Gibson is the highest-ranked recruit to join Texas' 2024 class. The Longhorns' haul also features four-star wide receiver Freddie Dubose, the 153rd-ranked prospect in the ESPN 300.
