Why Skenes' No. 1: Skenes took baseball by storm last season. The Pirates ace needed only 23 starts to win Rookie of the Year, started the All-Star Game, and finished third in NL Cy Young voting. If Skenes makes 32 starts in 2025, we might see the first 300-strikeout campaign since 2019.
Player worth reaching for: Ragans has been one of the top starters since being traded to Kansas City during the 2023 season, and it doesn't look like he'll slow down. The 27-year-old has struck out nearly 11 hitters per nine innings in a Royals uniform while maintaining a strong ERA (3.00), FIP (2.85), and WHIP (1.12).
Dark-horse pick: Ronel Blanco had quite a season for the Astros in 2024, which included throwing a no-hitter in his first start of the year and pitching seven hitless innings last June. Blanco's FIP over the previous campaign was a little concerning (4.15), but he maintained a low ERA (2.80), solid K/9 (8.9), and didn't give up a lot of hits (6.1 H/9).
