2025 fantasy baseball rankings: Shortstop
Here are the 2025 fantasy shortstop rankings for standard 5x5 leagues.

Why Witt's No. 1: Witt's 2024 campaign was one for the ages. The Royals' franchise player hit 30 homers and 109 RBIs while stealing 31 bases. He ranked first in batting average, third in runs scored, and sixth in on-base percentage. There may not be a better all-around player than Witt, who could easily go first overall in drafts.
Player worth reaching for: A lot of fantasy attention at shortstop will revolve around Witt, Henderson, and De La Cruz, but Bichette feels like a good player to reach for. Before his injury-plagued 2024 campaign, the Blue Jays shortstop had three straight seasons of 175-plus hits, 20-plus homers, 70-plus RBIs, and hit around .300. He also comes with some stolen-base potential.
Dark-horse pick: Rafaela is an exciting player for the Red Sox and looks like he'll be a popular selection in late rounds. There's a ton of swing-and-miss in his game, and he won't do much for owners with on-base percentage in their leagues, but Rafaela has a lot of power-and-speed potential after recording 43 extra-base hits last season and stealing 19 bags.
