The New York Jets will not trade Haason Reddick despite a request from the disgruntled pass-rusher to be moved, general manager Joe Douglas announced Monday.

"We have informed Haason that we will not trade him, that he is expected to be here with his teammates, and that he will continue to be fined per the CBA if he does not report," Douglas said in a statement. "Since the trade discussions back in March we have been clear, direct, and consistent with our position. Our focus will remain on the guys we have here as we prepare for the regular season."

Douglas' response came shortly after news broke that Reddick had informed the franchise that he wanted to be traded. Reddick was dealt to the Jets in March after he was unable to find common ground with the Philadelphia Eagles - his former team - on a new contract.

The pass-rusher has been holding out of the Jets' training camp in hopes of landing an extension. Reddick is slated to earn $14.25 million in base salary in 2024, the final year of his contract, per Spotrac.

The AFC East franchise will not engage in negotiations with players absent from training camp, but Reddick will not show up unless his contract standoff is resolved, a source told ESPN's Rich Cimini.

The Jets were reportedly under the impression that the 29-year-old would be willing to play out the remainder of his contract at the time of the trade with the Eagles. It was rumored that Reddick declined a contract proposal from the Jets, which included a raise for 2024, prior to the trade being finalized.

Reddick has not attended any part of the Jets' offseason program.

Reddick was expected to serve as much-needed reinforcement for the Jets' front seven after the franchise lost Bryce Huff, who led the team with 10.5 sacks last season, in free agency to the Eagles.

New York gave up a conditional 2026 third-round pick for Reddick that can become a second-round selection if he plays 67.5% of New York's snaps and records at least 10 sacks in 2024.

A former first-round pick in 2017, Reddick recorded 26 sacks over his two seasons with the Eagles. He notched a career-high 16 sacks in 2022 while also leading the league with five forced fumbles. His 2022 production earned him a fourth-place finish in Defensive Player of the Year voting.
