Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is active and will start for Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers despite dealing with a high ankle sprain, the team announced.

He was a game-time decision for the contest after not practicing and being deemed questionable Friday, describing the pain from the injury as "not great." The 26-year-old was also a limited participant in practice on Thursday.

The backups behind Herbert are Easton Stick and Taylor Heinicke, who are also both active.

The Chargers are off to a 2-0 start with Herbert throwing for three touchdowns against one interception. The strength of L.A.'s offense has come from its ground game as running back J.K. Dobbins leads the NFL with 266 rushing yards.
