Report: CAA parts ways with Jets' Reddick amid holdout

New York Jets pass-rusher Haason Reddick has been dropped by his agency CAA as he continues his holdout over a new contract, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Reddick hasn't appeared in a single game for the Jets and has been absent since his introductory press conference after being acquired in a trade in March. The Jets sent a conditional third-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles to get him.

His former agency has been attempting to broker a deal with the Jets but Reddick hasn't budged, which led to them going separate ways, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

Reddick has forfeited over $4 million for the five games he's missed and has also been fined more than $5 million due to his absences, according to Schefter.

The 30-year-old pass-rusher went as far as requesting a trade from the Jets in August due to a lack of progress over a new deal. The Jets then told the pass-rusher they wouldn't move him.

The Jets were reportedly under the impression that Reddick would play out the final year of his three-year, $45-million deal when they acquired him.

Reddick is coming off two consecutive Pro Bowl campaigns. He notched 11 sacks last season and a career-high 16 sacks and league-leading five forced fumbles in 2022.

The Jets' defense ranks fifth in points allowed, while edge rusher Will McDonald's six sacks are tied for second-most in the NFL.
