Parsons: I would take less money to get Garrett to Cowboys
Micah Parsons says he would take less money in the future if it meant getting to play alongside Cleveland Browns pass-rusher Myles Garrett in Dallas.
Parsons, who is entering the final year of his rookie deal, noted he would like to see Garrett land with the Cowboys but didn't know if the team had the financial ability to make it happen.
"Oh, 100%," Parsons told CBS Sports' Bryant McFadden when asked if he would take a discount to play on the same defense as Garrett.
The 25-year-old Cowboys edge rusher added a stipulation that Garrett, 29, would have to allow him to be paid a little bit more because of his younger age. Parsons also claimed that Garrett "wants to be with us, too."
Garrett requested to be traded earlier this week after eight seasons in Cleveland in hopes of landing with a Super Bowl contender. A defense consisting of Garrett and Parsons would form one of the most feared pass-rushing duos in recent memory.
Most sacks since Parsons entered the NFL in 2021:
Player | Sacks |
---|---|
Myles Garrett | 60 |
T.J. Watt | 58.5 |
Trey Hendrickson | 57 |
Nick Bosa | 53.5 |
Micah Parsons | 52.5 |
Garrett was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2023 after a 14-sack campaign and is a finalist for the 2024 award. Meanwhile, Parsons was runner-up in DPOY voting in his first two seasons and third in 2023.
The Browns pass-rusher has two years left on a five-year, $125-million extension he signed in 2020.
