- This is the time of year most owners wish they had an elite option at quarterback. Making it to the fantasy playoffs with an average signal caller or by streaming QBs isn't difficult, but running the playoff gauntlet without a star passer can be challenging.
- Aaron Rodgers has thrown 32 touchdown passes with just three interceptions this season. If that's not impressive enough, he has 20 touchdowns and zero picks in the Packers' six home victories. In fact, it's been two years since Rodgers has given up an interception in Green Bay. Rodgers doesn't play until Monday night, but I already feel bad for the Falcons defense.
- The Browns have been surprisingly solid against fantasy quarterbacks in 2014, but there's no stopping Andrew Luck, who has 300 or more passing yards in 10 of 12 games this year. The Colts have the depth to work around Browns cornerback Joe Haden, and they are also expecting to have touchdown machine Dwayne Allen back in the lineup.
- Tony Romo continues to deal with back issues, and a short week may have contributed to his subpar performance on Thanksgiving. Unlike most mid-week games, both the Cowboys and Bears played last Thursday, so they've had a full week to prepare, and in Romo's case, rest up. He's a QB1 against a very generous Bears pass defense.
- Russell Wilson hasn't put up many big days as a passer this season, but his 679 rushing yards (56.6 per game) have helped give him a higher floor than most players at his position. The Eagles defense held Romo in check last week. However, prior to that they had allowed multiple passing touchdowns in 10 of their previous 11 outings. Wilson owners should expect mid- to low-end QB1 numbers in a game projected to be relatively high-scoring, with the over/under set at 48.5.
- Ryan Tannehill fell flat on his face in what appeared to be a great matchup with the Jets on Monday night. The Dolphins got the win, but fantasy owners who survived the week will be hesitant to trust Tannehill again. He'll get a chance to redeem himself as he returns home to host a a Ravens secondary that's been ravaged by injuries. Baltimore has surrendered over 340 passing yards and more than three scores to three of the last four quarterbacks they've faced.
- While we're discussing quarterbacks that are difficult to trust, let's welcome in Colin Kaepernick. I'm not sure how many Kaepernick owners made it to the postseason, but those who did will be rewarded with a good Week 14 matchup. Despite having the talent to explode for a monster game in any given week, Kaepernick has severely underwhelmed this season. Even so, the potential is there, making him a high-end QB2 with upside.
- Ben Roethlisberger hasn't thrown for multiple touchdowns in Cincinnati since 2008. The Bengals are also allowing the second-fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season, and are back home after a three-game road trip.
- Since taking over for an injured Nick Foles, Mark Sanchez has been a reliable fantasy starter. Unfortunately for Sanchez owners, the Eagles take on a Seahawks defense that excels at shutting down quarterbacks. Sanchez isn't a terrible option, but hopefully you've planned ahead for the first round of the playoffs.
- Intriguing options for Week 14: Shaun Hill has an excellent matchup against Washington's comical secondary, and last week's six-touchdown superstar Ryan Fitzpatrick is on the road against Jacksonville.
