Angels hold team meeting after 2nd blowout loss
The Los Angeles Angels held a team meeting after Saturday's 13-4 loss to the Baltimore Orioles, manager Ron Washington told MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger.
The club has been outscored 24-7 through the first two games of the season.
"Just wanted to let them know they've played only two games, and we can't get off track," Washington said. "Our focus is on a 162-game championship season. Not two games."
The Angels' minus-17 run differential is their worst through two games in franchise history, according to Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register.
"Sometimes in this game, there's two things that happen: You get off good or you get off bad," Washington said, according to Fletcher. "And if you get off good … you've got something to fall back on. But when you get off bad, you just got to come and go to work. And tomorrow, we're going to come back and go to work."
Washington signed a two-year contract to manage the Angels in the offseason. The 71-year-old hasn't been in charge of a big-league team since he resigned as manager of the Texas Rangers in 2014.
The Angels haven't made the postseason since 2014 and lost two-time MVP Shohei Ohtani in free agency during the offseason.
