Second baseman Brendan Rodgers has agreed to a minor-league contract with the Houston Astros, a source told Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston.
Rodgers, who won a Gold Glove in 2022, hit 13 homers with 54 RBIs and a .721 OPS over 135 games for the Colorado Rockies last season.
The 28-year-old's played his entire six-year career with the Rockies since being taken with the No. 3 pick in the 2015 draft. Alex Bregman went second overall that year and Kyle Tucker was drafted fifth. However, both former Astros stars found new homes this offseason.
The reported addition of Rodgers gives Houston a capable starting option at second if Jose Altuve moves to left field. Altuve has been working on the new position early in camp.
