Reliever Lucas Sims joined the Washington Nationals on a one-year contract, the club announced Wednesday.
The deal is worth $3 million, a source told Andrew Golden of The Washington Post.
Sims, 30, started the 2024 season with the Cincinnati Reds before being traded to the Boston Red Sox.
The righty pitched well with the Reds, recording a 3.57 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, and 10.2 K/9 in 43 appearances. He struggled with the Red Sox, however, allowing 10 earned runs in 14 innings with just nine strikeouts.
Walking batters has been a consistent problem for Sims, who has a career BB/9 of 4.7 through eight MLB seasons.
