Iowa State extends Otzelberger through 2031-32 season
Iowa State head coach T.J. Otzelberger agreed to a contract extension that will keep him as the Cyclones' bench boss through the 2031-32 season, the school announced Tuesday.
The terms of the new contract will be announced at a future date.
"In just four years, coach Otzelberger has transformed our Iowa State men's basketball program into one of the nation's best," ISU president Wendy Wintersteen said in a statement.
Iowa State had back-to-back losing seasons, including a 2-22 campaign, before Otzelberger arrived in Ames.
Otzelberger took over the program ahead of the 2021-22 campaign and possesses a school-record 68.7% winning percentage. The 47-year-old guided the Cyclones to three consecutive NCAA tournaments, including a run to the Sweet 16, and won the Big 12 Tournament in 2024.
He spent eight seasons as an assistant at Iowa State, working under Greg McDermott, Fred Hoiberg, and Steve Prohm.
Otzelberger was the head coach at UNLV and South Dakota State, winning the Summit League regular-season title in two of his three years in charge of the Jackrabbits.
The Cyclones are 9-1 this season and are ranked No. 3 in the AP Top 25. They are scheduled to face Morgan State on Sunday before beginning conference play against Colorado on Dec. 30.
