Pitt's Narduzzi: We beat West Virginia and the refs

Pitt not only overcame West Virginia to win the Backyard Brawl, it had to overcome the officials too, according to Panthers head coach Pat Narduzzi.

"I mean, some of the calls we got (against us) ... I've never seen anything like it," Narduzzi told ESPN after Saturday's 38-34 comeback win. "We beat West Virginia in the Backyard Brawl, and we beat the officials too in one game."

The Panthers were penalized 12 times for 112 yards while the Mountaineers received seven penalties for 67 yards.

Pitt scored two touchdowns in the final 3 minutes and 6 seconds to rally from a 10-point deficit. The first score was on a 40-yard touchdown pass from Eli Holstein to Daejon Reynolds on a second-and-30 play after the Panthers were called for two holding penalties.

With 32 seconds remaining, Derrick Davis Jr. punched in the game-winning score from the 1-yard line.

Holstein completed 21 of his 30 passes for 301 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions as Narduzzi's squad moved to 3-0 with the rivalry game victory. West Virginia fell to 1-2.
