Atalanta moved into Serie A's Champions League places on Saturday after seeing off struggling Udinese 2-0.
Aleksei Miranchuk and Gianluca Scamacca netted the decisive goals in the first half in Bergamo to push Gian Piero Gasperini's side two points above Fiorentina and into Italy's top four.
Udinese stay a single point above the relegation zone in 16th after their third defeat in four league matches.
Fiorentina can reclaim fourth when they host Inter Milan on Sunday night.
Later on Saturday Juventus can extend their lead over Inter at the top of Serie A to four points with a home win over lowly Empoli, while third-placed AC Milan take on surprise package Bologna at the San Siro.
