Lions' Campbell confident in offense: Players 'make it what it is'
Head coach Dan Campbell is confident that the Detroit Lions' offensive talent will outweigh losing offensive coordinator Ben Johnson.
"This is a Detroit Lion offense, is what it is," Campbell said, according to the Detroit News' Richard Silva. "This offense is Jared Goff, (Amon-Ra) St. Brown, (Jahmyr) Gibbs, (David) Montgomery. It's Frank (Ragnow). It's (Penei) Sewell. It's (Taylor) Decker. I can keep (going). It's (Jameson Williams)."
He added: "(The players are) the ones who make it what it is. That's our playbook, those guys."
The Lions lost renowned coordinator Johnson this offseason after he took the head coaching job with the Chicago Bears. Detroit's offense ranked in the top five in yardage and scoring in all three seasons under Johnson's direction. The unit averaged 33.2 points per game in 2024, the highest among all NFL teams.
Former Denver Broncos pass game coordinator John Morton replaced Johnson.
Campbell also eased concerns about the staffing move earlier in April, saying the team is excited about the change and would be "fine."
