Ravens' Harbaugh: Tucker's recent struggles 'a technique issue'

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh believes kicker Justin Tucker can get out of his recent slump.

"It's just a technique issue right now that he's working through," Harbaugh said Monday, according to Jamison Hensley of ESPN. "He knows exactly what it is and just needs to smooth it back out. I'm very confident that he will."

Tucker is the most accurate kicker in NFL history having nailed 89.7% of his field goal attempts. However, he's struggled to start the season, missing a kick in each of Baltimore's first three games.

The 34-year-old failed attempts from 53, 56, and 46 yards, and he's only hit on one of his last eight 50-yard tries dating back to last season.

"Justin knows that we support him," Harbaugh added. "I've tried to make sure he knows that that's part of it. The talent, the ability, all that stuff is there; that hasn't gone anywhere.

"We see it all the time, but it's a technique thing I think we approach from a technical standpoint. Justin is a pro. I have a great belief that he'll get the job done."

Tucker's 62.5% success rate on field goals ranks last in the NFL among kickers who have attempted at least three kicks, and he's the only kicker in the league to miss on miss on multiple 50-yard tries.

Baltimore improved to 1-2 with a win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3 and will face off against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday Night Football in Week 4.
