Los Angeles Chargers rookie offensive tackle Joe Alt is expected to miss some time after spraining his MCL during Sunday's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The Chargers play the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4 and then have a bye.

Alt played through the issue against the Steelers and appeared in all of L.A.'s offensive snaps for a third straight week. The 21-year-old has allowed only three pressures so far, according to PFF.

The Chargers drafted Alt fifth overall in April to bolster their offensive line for head coach Jim Harbaugh and the team's new run-heavy offense. Los Angeles ranks top 10 in rushing attempts in 2024.

Alt wasn't the only key Chargers player to go down versus Pittsburgh. Quarterback Justin Herbert aggravated a high ankle sprain, pass-rusher Joey Bosa missed most of the contest with a hip issue, and left tackle Rashawn Slater sustained a pectoral injury.
