Bills trade Elam to Cowboys
The Buffalo Bills traded cornerback Kaiir Elam and a 2025 sixth-round pick to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a 2025 fifth- and '26 seventh-round selection, the team announced Wednesday.
A fresh start in Dallas could help Elam, who recorded two interceptions as a rookie but hasn't lived up to the hype since Buffalo drafted him 23rd overall in 2022. He was a healthy scratch on multiple occasions during his Bills stint.
The 23-year-old leaves Buffalo with 81 tackles, six pass breakups, and two interceptions in 29 appearances across three seasons.
In Dallas, he joins a cornerback depth chart headlined by Trevon Diggs and DaRon Bland. Adding depth to the secondary is a priority for the Cowboys after they lost corner Jourdan Lewis to the Jacksonville Jaguars this offseason. The club also has yet to re-sign cornerback Amani Oruwariye and versatile defensive back Israel Mukuamu.
