Saints' Jordan: Winning NFC South 'definitely attainable'

New Orleans Saints defensive lineman Cameron Jordan sees no reason why his team can't make a run for a division title, though he's not taking reigning NFC South champions Tampa Bay Buccaneers lightly.

"Let's be real, The Bucs have won the division the last three or four years," Jordan said Wednesday on "Good Morning Football," according to Nick Shook of NFL.com. "So until you knock off the king of the hill, that's what you're doing, you're climbing a hill. But let's just not say they're running away with it."

He added, "They clearly won the NFC South last year, 10-7. The year before that, 9-8. The year before that, 8-9. Come on. It's definitely attainable to go after."

Jordan believes more bad injury luck is the only element that could prevent the Saints from hitting his expectations.

"Last year, we went 2-0, we saw a healthy Rashid Shaheed, we saw Chris Olave, a healthy offensive line," Jordan said, adding, "Then after the two games, that was about the last time you saw us all healthy. Then next thing you know, the injury bug happens. We were facing the next man up every week, including at our quarterback position, which is probably the most important position for our offense."

The Saints won the first two games of 2024, scoring 91 points combined. However, they went 3-13 the rest of the way as injuries piled up. Quarterback Derek Carr started only 10 games with Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener filling in at times. Receivers Shaheed and Olave suited up for six and eight games, respectively.

Jordan is entering his age-36 campaign. He's totaled just six sacks over the past two seasons.

The Saints, now led by new head coach Kellen Moore, haven't made the postseason since 2020.
